
Marine Rescue Queensland — Sandgate
Primary purpose is to provide marine search and rescue services to the boating public in Moreton Bay and surrounding waterways. We are an affiliated squadron of Marine Rescue Queensland.
Marine Rescue Queensland — Sandgate provides a `first response’ emergency service 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Their base is located at Shorncliffe, adjacent to Brisbane Airport and the Port of Brisbane. A very high priority is placed on all aspects of training including, marine operations, first aid, marine radio, bar crossing and emergency search and rescue procedures.
Volunteer Duty Crews maintain a vessel monitoring service every weekend and public holiday from 0600 to 1700 hrs.
The radio channels we man are:
VHF Radio – 63, 67, 73, 81, 21 (Emergency Channel 16)
27 Mhz Radio – 91 (Emergency Channel 88)
After hours calls are attended to by the Emergency Standby Crew and assist with Search and Rescue and Brisbane Ambulance crews with Medivacs.
